The Qatar Chamber’s First Vice Chairman, Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, recently held a meeting with Nguyen Huy Hiep, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar, at the chamber’s headquarters in Lusail. The discussions centered on boosting economic and trade ties between Qatar and Vietnam, with a particular focus on enhancing cooperation among private sector companies from both nations. The meeting aimed to explore new investment opportunities and identify sectors for potential future collaboration.

Al Kuwari expressed the Qatar Chamber’s support for stronger partnerships and joint investment ventures between Qatari and Vietnamese businesses. He commended Vietnam’s remarkable economic growth and emphasized the importance of fostering closer economic ties. On the other hand, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep highlighted Vietnam’s eagerness to deepen economic cooperation with Qatar. He noted that bilateral trade between the two countries had surpassed $860 million in 2024, reflecting an increase of $100 million compared to the previous year.

The ambassador encouraged Qatari investors to consider opportunities in Vietnam, especially in sectors such as agriculture, food processing, and halal products. He also stressed the Qatar Chamber’s role in promoting Vietnamese agricultural and halal goods within the Qatari market. This mutual interest in collaboration underscores the potential for increased economic activity between Qatar and Vietnam.

In addition to discussing immediate economic opportunities, the Vietnamese ambassador extended an invitation to Qatar Chamber and Qatari business leaders to attend the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2026. Scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City next September, the annual exhibition is a significant global trade event that focuses on sourcing, exports, and supply chain cooperation. It attracts international companies and industry leaders across various sectors, including food and beverages, textiles, furniture, consumer goods, agriculture, and logistics.

This initiative is expected to further solidify the economic partnership between the two countries and offer a platform for Qatari businesses to explore and engage with Vietnamese markets. The meeting between Al Kuwari and Ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep marks a step forward in the ongoing efforts to strengthen economic relations and unlock new commercial opportunities.
