Qatar and Saudi Arabia are set to enhance their economic and trade ties following discussions through the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council. Senior officials from both nations have reviewed progress on joint initiatives and deliberated on strategies to bolster bilateral trade, support private-sector businesses, and foster economic integration.
The trade relationship between Qatar and Saudi Arabia has shown significant growth, with trade volumes reaching approximately $1.98 billion in 2025—an increase of 36 percent from the previous year. This upward trend continued in the first quarter of 2026, with bilateral trade expanding by around 18 percent, surpassing the countries’ target of 15 percent. Qatari exports to Saudi Arabia have amounted to over $1.42 billion, and more than 977 Saudi companies are currently operating in Qatar.
To further facilitate economic collaboration, both sides discussed improving import and export procedures, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, enhancing supply-chain integration, and expanding financial cooperation. They also focused on addressing trade barriers to make it easier for companies to operate in both markets.
An important outcome of the discussions was the preparation for launching a Joint Economic and Trade Strategy. This strategy aims to set clear priorities, initiatives, and measurable targets for the future phase of bilateral economic cooperation. Officials emphasized the importance of completing agreed initiatives and overcoming any outstanding trade challenges to further promote economic and industrial integration.
This collaboration signals a commitment from both Qatar and Saudi Arabia to deepen their economic ties, aiming for sustainable growth and mutual benefit in the region. The developments also highlight the proactive steps being taken by both nations to ensure a robust economic partnership.
