Iran’s Nuclear Clock Is Ticking, Trump Warns in State of the Union

by admin477351

President Trump used his State of the Union Address to convey a sense of urgency about Iran’s nuclear ambitions, warning that the window for a diplomatic solution is open but not indefinitely. He said Iran is actively advancing its nuclear and missile programs and that the United States is watching closely, prepared to act if diplomacy fails.

Trump recalled last year’s Operation Midnight Hammer strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, which he said had set back the program significantly. He expressed alarm that Iran has since tried to rebuild, saying the country was warned not to and has chosen to defy that warning — a decision that makes the current negotiations all the more critical.

The President described a missile threat that is actively growing. Iranian weapons, he said, can already hit Europe and US military bases in the region. More alarming, he warned, is the development of longer-range missiles that could eventually reach American cities — a capability he said would fundamentally change the threat calculus.

Trump confirmed that two rounds of nuclear talks have taken place this month and that Iran is interested in reaching an agreement. But he said the US is waiting for the one commitment that matters: a public, unambiguous declaration from Tehran that it will never build a nuclear weapon. Without that, he suggested, time is running out.

His closing message was one of cautious but firm determination. He said he will always choose peace when possible, but that a nuclear-armed Iran is a threat too serious to accept. The current diplomatic effort, he implied, is Iran’s best chance to resolve the situation before it escalates further.
