Vietnam and Qatar are bolstering their diplomatic relationship, as evidenced by the recent celebration of Vietnam’s National Day in Doha. The event underscored the growing economic ties and collaborative efforts between the two nations, with a focus on peace and international cooperation. Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep highlighted the strengthening bonds during a gathering attended by senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders.
Diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Qatar date back to 1993, with significant expansion in areas such as trade, investment, energy, and telecommunications. This cooperation has been reflected in the rising bilateral trade, which reached approximately $423 million in 2025, showcasing increased business engagements and investment prospects.
The two countries have demonstrated a commitment to reinforcing their partnership through high-level exchanges. Notably, Qatar’s prime minister visited Vietnam in October 2024, signaling mutual interest in deepening economic collaborations and exploring new opportunities for partnership.
The celebratory event in Doha, marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, served as a platform for both nations to reaffirm their dedication to enhancing bilateral cooperation.
