In a recent diplomatic outreach, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, engaged in separate phone conversations with key officials from Lebanon and Mali to address bilateral ties and pressing regional developments. Dr. Al Khulaifi’s discussions with Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Tarek Mitri centered around the situation in Lebanon, where he expressed strong condemnation of Israel’s ongoing military actions on Lebanese soil.
Dr. Al Khulaifi characterized the Israeli attacks and expansion of ground operations in southern Lebanon as a severe violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and international law, posing a risk to regional peace and security. He urged for an immediate ceasefire and strict compliance with the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which is crucial for maintaining peace in the region. Emphasizing Qatar’s solid support for Lebanon, he called on the international community to actively intervene to halt these violations and safeguard Lebanon’s territorial integrity.
In a separate dialogue, the Qatari official communicated with Mali’s Foreign Minister, Abdoulaye Diop, focusing on enhancing cooperation between Qatar and Mali. The conversation also included an exchange of views on the current situation in the African Sahel region, underscoring areas for potential collaboration.
During the call with Mali, Dr. Al Khulaifi reiterated Qatar’s commitment to standing in solidarity with Mali. He affirmed Qatar’s support for Mali’s efforts to ensure national security, stability, and the protection of its citizens amid ongoing challenges.
